Course Description
Our full training course at Edinburgh Kiltmakers Academy (EKA) is designed to take you from a passionate beginner to a confident, qualified kiltmaker.
You'll learn in small group sessions, one day per week, supported by weekly homework assignments to build your skills and confidence in hand-sewn kiltmaking.
What You’ll Learn
Over the 26 weeks you'll create 6 kilts using different tartans and tweeds with varying pleating styles and difficulties, supervised by our highly experienced tutors.
Teaching Days
Classes run once per week in Edinburgh. You can choose from the following days (subject to availability):
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday or Saturday.
Please include your preferred teaching day in your application. Keep in mind that an additional 15 to 30 hours of homework is required each week alongside classroom learning.

For those who wish to take their skills further, we offer an optional 52 week/12 kilt practical placement with Gordon Nicolson Kiltmakers. You will gain real-world, supervised experience making kilts for GNK. This is ideal for those pursuing a professional career in kiltmaking.
